Superconducting coil of the Wendelstein 7-X Stellarator

The most prominent object in the Particularium is a genuine rarity: An original (spare) superconducting coil of the Wendelstein 7-X Stellarator of the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching near Munich, where experiments are conducted that will eventually lead to controlled nuclear fusion. A large number of such coils are needed to control the gas plasma at extremely high temperatures that is the pre-requisite for nuclear fusion.
